FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Samuel Dixon Cole Jr., 82, of Ridgecrest, La., who died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in Natchez, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Pat Roller officiating.

Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island, La. under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Cole was born January 16, 1922, in Delhi, La., the son of the late Samuel D. Sr. and Betty J. Cole.

He was a resident of Ridgecrest since 1956 and a member of the First Baptist Church in Ferriday. Mr. Cole was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater in World War II. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Quarter Century Club at International Paper Co. in Natchez, where he was a Superintendent Maintenance Engineer until retiring in 1984. Mr. Cole was also an Eagle Scout.

Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Evylen Cole; and a son, Samuel Dixon Cole III.

Survivors include two sons; two daughters; one sister; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Emmit Keating.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Lung Association at 61 Broadway, 6th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10006 or to a charity of your choice.
