Elizabeth J. Martin, Clifton, CO, passed away at Mesa Manor November 12, 2008. Elizabeth was born on January 11, 1917 in Hartford, CT, the first generation American daughter of Irish immigrants Michael and Margaret Kelly Jordon. Elizabeth was raised and spent most of her life in Hartford. After high school she spent two years in business school. She was a proud worker for 18 years with Pratt & Whitney, an American aircraft engine manufacturer during WWII. After the war she met Captain Thomas Edward Martin in his floral shop, they would marry in Hartford on September 18, 1950. Captain Martin preceded Elizabeth in death in June 20, 1987 in Delta, CO. Elizabeth was of the Catholic faith and gained a lifelong love of the cultural arts. Operas such as Madam Butterfly where her favorites. She was always known to be astute and concerned about current affairs. Elizabeth leaves behind three children, a son, Gregory (Gay) Martin of Grand Junction, CO and two daughters, Gail (Robert) Carpenter of Dell City, TX and Barbara (Keith) Martin-Worley of Larkspur, CO and former daughter-in-law, Carol Conklin of Grand Junction, CO. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Kelly Martin, Matthew Martin, Andrea Hess and Reilly Martin; and two great grandchildren, Rex Martin and Lexee Lynn Hess. A private Mass of Christian Burial will take place at a later date. Burial will take place in Delta City Cemetery. A Vigil service will be held 6 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2008 at Martin Mortuary. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Martin Mortuary.
