Olen Gallatin School Custodian at Beckemeyer, Dies Sunday Morning
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Beckemeyer for Olen Gallatin, 67 year old World War I veteran and Beckmeyer school custodian who died at the Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis at 4 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Dan Walker was in charge of the services and burial was in the Beckemyer Cemetery. There were military rites by members of the Beckemyer Hokhaus-Kampwerth American Legion Post.
Mr. Gallatin was born in Marsall Illinois, a son of Albert and Jane Hillard Gallatin and was married in St. Louis in September 1919.
His wife Mabel W. Gallatin survives along with three sons, Rollie of Robinson, Eddie of Amo Indiana, and Roy Gallatin of Janesville, Wisconsin; three sisters, Mrs W. S. Simonton of Beckemeyer, Mrs Charles Schuchmann of Carlyle and Mrs Ed Koehler of Carlyle. There are seven grandchildren.
Mr. Gallatin was a member of the Beckemeyer American Legion Post.
