PHILIP JESSE BARNET
Funeral services for Philip Jesse Barnet, who died at his home near Thurston Wednesday morning, will be held at the Thurston church at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, Rev. E.V. Stivers officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Vernon cemetery.
Mr. Barnet, a Civil War veteran, was born on December 15, 1845 in Johnson county, Missouri. He came to Oregon in 1878, settling near Jasper, where he lived for five years, then going to eastern Oregon. Eleven years later he moved to Springfield, residing in this vicinity even since.
On November 16, 1871, Mr. Barnet married Miss Martha Ann Briles in Missouri. He leaves two sons, William Barnet at home and J.P. Barnet in Longview, Washington, and one daughter, Mrs. Lilly May Gossler, of Noti; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
