Funeral services for George A. Eldridge, 73, who passed away Monday in St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, were held Thursday at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral home. The Rev. Orval Egbert officiated and burial was in the New Holstein city cemetery.
Mr. Eldridge was born April 1, 1869, in the town of Charlestown, the son of Henry and Mary Eldridge. He was the last survivor of that family.
May 19, 1896 he married Dora Wiechman of New Holstein and purchased a farm in the town of Charlestown. In 1921 the Eldridge’s moved to Chilton where Mr. Eldridge did carpentry work and was employed by the city. Last November they sold their home on Oak Street and moved to Fond du Lac to live with a daughter, Mrs. Earl Lindsley. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in May 1946.
Mr. Eldridge was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Mrs. Lindsley and Ervin, both of Fond du Lac; Lawrence of Sheboygan Falls; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
