There was only one thing Ralph A. Biggerstaff loved more than golf, tennis and friends: his family. Ralph had a love for life and especially his wife, Terry. The California native died Friday, July 29, 2011. He was eighty-eight.

Ralph was born in Huntington Beach on August 17, 1922. Ralph attended Compton High School and Compton College. He was in the U.S. Naval Air Corp and was in the South Pacific from 1942-1946.

Ralph went to South Western Law School and graduated in 1951. He became a partner with the law firm of Block, Toler, Bullock & Biggerstaff in 1954.

Ronald Reagan appointed him to the Municipal Court in Compton in 1967. He was appointed to the Superior Court in Norwalk in 1974, by then Governor Brown. He also served as a city prosecutor for the city of Compton for six years.

Ralph met the love of his life, Terry, in 1948. They were married in 1952. They enjoyed fifty-eight wonderful years together. They had a big, beautiful home in Lakewood Country Club and loved entertaining family and friends. Ralph loved life. He loved his friends and family. Ralph loved to travel and travel they did! All over the world.

Besides belonging to many law organizations, Ralph was a member of Virginia Country Club, belonged to Gyro International for more than twenty-five years, past president of Kiwanis, Elks Lodge #1570, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Traveling Divoteers and the Terrible Twenty golf group.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Terry; his daughter, Julie Ann King; and was predeceased by his son, Bradford Biggerstaff in 2001; his sister, Jacquelyn Dailey (Peter), and brother, Kenneth Biggerstaff, who died in 1997. Grandchildren include Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Coleman, and Jake; he had nine nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Chapel at Forest Lawn in Long Beach at San Antonio and Cherry at 2:00 p.m.
