Rosa Barger Carr of Higden, Arkansas, passed away at the Beverly Nursing Home in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on Monday, October 20, 2003. Mrs. Carr was born in Bates City, Missouri, Lafayette County, Missouri, on October 23, 1911. She moved to Arkansas in 1914 at the age of four and has been a resident of Cleburne County since. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John William Barger and Mary Elizabeth Heiple Barger of Higden, Arkansas; four brothers, William Willie Barger and Everett Barger of Bates City, Missouri, Edward Barger of Quitman, Arkansas, and Oscar Barger of Clinton, Arkansas; and three sisters, Ida Ann Barger Gann of Aubrey, Arkansas, Lillie Mae Barger Daugherty of Pleasant Grove, Arkansas, and Cordia L. Barger Barnum Presley of Higden, Arkansas. Mrs. Carr married Sivel Carr on October 14, 1929, in Harrisburg, Arkansas. She is survived by one son, Leon Carr of Higden, Arkansas, who is presently living at the Beverly Nursing Home in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Mrs. Carr was a member of the Church of Christ in Higden, Arkansas. Mrs. Carr is also survived by seven nephews, Harvey Eugene Barger, Willie Gene Barger, and Roy Edward Barger of Quitman, Arkansas, Chester Barger of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, Jimmy Levon Barger of Bentonville, Arkansas, Carl Junior Barger of Conway, Arkansas, and Steve Edward Barger of Clinton, Arkansas; and nine nieces, LouElla Imogene Barger Davis, Leona Faye Barger Bittle, and Flossie Loudeen Barger Schoolcraft of Quitman, Arkansas, Ella Mae Barger Benton of West Plains, Missouri, Mary Elizabeth Barger Hightower of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Velma Marie Daughtery Logan of Pleasant Grove, Arkansas, Patsy Ann Daughtery Fontneot of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Onedia Barnum Fortenberry of Safford, Arizona, and Lola Mae Presley Neighbors of Concord, Arkansas. During her ninety-two years on this earth, Rosa made many friends who will remember her as a kind and considerate lady. She loved to read The Sun-Times newspaper and could tell you on a given day who got married, who died, and what events were happening in Cleburne County.
