According to "The Todd Family in America or the Descendants of Christopher Todd 1637-1919" by John Edward Todd & George Iru Todd, 1920, p. 19, Christopher Todd was born at Pontefract, West Riding, Yorkshire, England He married Grace, daughter of Michael Middlebrook, of Hold Mills, Yorkshire, England, and shortly after their marriage, they sailed from London to Boston on the good ship, HECTOR, arriving on June 26, 1637 in the company of Mr. Davenport. They wintered in the Boston area and the next spring set out for Quinnipiac (New Haven).
Christopher Todd signed the General Agreement with his mark and was given a homelot in the Yorkshire Quarters, and assigned "the third seat on the side" while his wife was assigned one of the middle seats.
Being a farmer, miller & baker, he bought from the town before 1686, the first grist mill in New Haven located at the falls near Mill Rock and eventuallly owned by Eli Whitney who built his fire arms factory on this spot.
In 1650 he purchased one & one half acres from Jasper Crane in the London Quarter with a building on Elm Street between Church & orange streets where he lived for the rest of his life. This lot stayed in the possession of his descendants for nearly 100 years. It was later known as the "Blue Meeting house Lot" where the paritiioners who broke off from the First Church in New Haven (the "New Lights") erected their church.
Over his life, he aquired considerable land. When he died at 69 years of age, he left a will naming three sons and three daughters.
