Cory L. Brown
Birth: Jun. 26, 1986
Death: Feb. 23, 2006

Cory Lee Brown was born June 26, 2006 at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach FL at 7:57 a.m. His arrival was much anticipated and was celebrated with such joy by his mom, dad and big brother, Ian. He was a beautiful baby with his big, brown eyes and his golden brown complexion. He was admired by everyone who saw him in the newborn nursery and his grandma gladly stood by and told everyone all about him and that he was her grandson. Unfortunately, Cory's medical problems became evident at a very early age. He was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and had a shunt placed in his brain at 10 months old. He began having seizures at 16 months old. The seizures stopped after a year and he actually did pretty well with the shunt until he was 10 years old. At that time, he fell out of a neighbor's tree and cracked the shunt. He had to have surgery to have that replaced and during the testing process, it was discovered that his left kidney was enlarged to 4 times its normal size. During this time, his bladder stopped functioning. During Jan. of 1997, he had 3 kidney surgeries and a bladder surgery. In Feb. of 1997, he suffered the first of the grand mal seizures that would dominate the next 9 years of his life. His seizures became progressively worse as time went on and his medications were changed over and over and more and more were added. By the time he passed away, he was taking 15 pills a day for seizures. He was hospitalized frequently and he never really felt good because of the damage the seizures caused his brain and because of all the meds. On the day he passed away, he went to sleep after a small seizure and never woke up. The dr. believes he had a seizure in his sleep that stopped his heart. He told his big brother, Ian that he loved him and took his dog Jessie with him to bed and Ian tucked him in. Three hours later, Ian found him and he had gone to heaven. It was the worst moment of mine and Ian's lives. But, with that said, Cory had a wonderful love for life and he was the most courageous person I have ever known. He was kind, loving, forgiving and an angel here on earth. He loved everyone, he was a friend to everyone he ever met. His passions were baseball, the NY Yankees and wrestling. He adored his Dalmatian, Jessie. His best friend was his brother Ian. They were best buddies and so much more. As his mom, he was the joy of my life and he gave my life such purpose and meaning. He taught me so much about what is really important in this life. I will forever miss him and he will live in my heart and my memories forever. He was so loved by all who knew him and whose lives he touched. Sleep well, my sweet, sweet boy.
