Born in Dunmore on Nov. 15, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Viola Ruthkosky Alichwer. She attended the Eugene Field School, Dunmore, and before retirement, she was employed by the Somark Glove Co. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish and the former St. Casimir's Church, Dunmore, where she had been very active in church functions.
She loved to travel and take trips to Atlantic City. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch in the summer and cooking, especially for her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who truly enjoyed being with her family. Her family would like to thank Dr. Salvatore Lawrence, the nurses and staff of the Green Ridge Health Care Center for all their dedicated care and compassion, and a special thank you to her granddaughter, Sheri Lynn Capoccia, for always being there for her.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Grabowski; and two brothers, Frank and Michael Alichwer.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
Friends may call Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church.
