GOOD, Richard ~~ CIVIL WAR VETERAN ~~
5-22-1836 --- 5-14-1918
Linwood - Magnolia Twp. - Harrison ~~ C.W. ~~ Vet- 5 IA CAV, CO. B ~~
---------
(Missouri Valley Times, May 16, 1918): From Logan, Iowa, May 15 ~~ Richard Good, aged 82, wellknown resident of Harrison County since 1865, died at his home in Harris Grove this morning as a result of illness of about 3 months.

The funeral will be held at Linwood church tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. Interment in Linwood Cemetery.

He is survived by 2 daughters and 5 sons: The daughters are Mrs. George Ball and Mrs. William Ball of Logan, the sons are Jason Charley, Will of Logan; Ira of Glenwood and Iverson of Louisiana.

Mr. Good enlisted in Company B, 5th Iowa Cavalry, and saw hard service in the Civil Ware. As a result of volunteering his services with a few other men for a daring raid, he and other volunteers were cut off from the northern army, captured and taken to Anderson Villa, where he was almost starved to death.

On his return to western Iowa, he settled in Harris Grove where he has since made his home. "He was the squarest man that ever lived in Harrison County," is the expression of acquaintances and neighbors who have known Mr. Good for over a half of a century.
