Chig, age 87, died at a nursing home in Westmoreland. He was the son of Henry F. and Esley (Howe) Barr. He graduated from Westmoreland (KS) High School and served in the US Army in World War II, Rhineland Campaign, and Normandy Invasion. He never married. Survivors include his brother, Orval Barr. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, William Lester Barr and Dale Barr. Services were held at Westmoreland United Methodist Church. Burial, with full military honors by Fort Riley Color Guard, was in Admantha Cemetery south of Westmoreland.
