George (Snooky) Gergurich, 50, operator of an East Butte tavern and motel, was killed Wednesday and his mother in law Mrs. Gertrude Blagg, 68, also of Butte, was fatally injured in a traffice collision seven miles south of the Montana Idaho state line.
Mrs. Blagg died in an Idaho Falls hospital several hours after the accident.
Gergurich owned the Hi Ho Lounge, 224 Cherry, in East Butte and lived at the Ranchette Motel, 2020 Fir, which he also operated. Mrs. Blagg also lived at the motel.
Butte relatives said Gergurich and Mrs. Blagg left early Wednesday for Salt Lake City to visit Gergurich's daughter, Paulette, who on July 8 was married to Gary Garret, Salt Lake City. Gergurich's wife, Reva, died here two years ago.
The Idaho Highway Patrol siad the Butte man was driving when his car and a double semi trailer collided on U. s. Highway 91, about seven miles south of the Montana Idaho state line.
The truck driver escaped injury. However, the collision cause one of the trailers and the tractor to burst into flames. The trucking unity was destroyed.
Gergurich was widely known in the East Butte McQueen area as a sportsman and was active in league and tournament bowling.
He was born in Butte March 24, 1911. He attended Holy Savior School, Butte Central High abd Butte Business College. He built the Ranchette Motel in 1952.
He was a member of Holy Savior Church, the Knights of Columbus, Sts. Philip and Jacob Lodge No. 165, the Western Leader, Butte Elks and the AAA Association of Motels.
Beside his son in law and daughter, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Catherine Wall, and an Aunt Mrs. Mary Gergurich of Butte; a nephew and niece in Albuquerque, New Mexico and numberous cousins.
Mrs. Blagg born June 11, 1893, in Galconda, Illinois, came to Butte about 45 years ago. She was a caretake at the motel and a member of the Baptist Church and the Women's Protective Union.
Her survivors besides the Garretts, include brother in law and sisters, Mr and Mrs. Vaughn Parkinson and Mrs. Addie Gillian of Galconda; aunt, Mrs. Etta Panky of Butte and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
The bodies are being brought to White Funeral Home.

Gergurich - The remains of George Gergurich are in the drawing room of White's Funeral Home, from where the funeral will take place Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clocl, proceeding to Holy Savior Church where requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9 o'clock. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited this Friday evening at 7:30 i'clock in Holy Savior Church.
