Doctor Farley was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1836. He enlisted at Brooklyn, N.Y. on 4/18/1861 as an assistant surgeon. He was commissioned on 5/23/1861 into Field and Staff, 84th N.Y. Inf. (14th New York State Militia- "14th Brooklyn").He was discharged for disability on 6/10/1863.

After the war, Lt. Col. Farley was a member of GAR Post #10 (Rankin). He died on 3/9/1886, and was interred at Greenwood Cem. on 4/23/1886
