Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of December 6, 2008, Eric G. Friberg, husband of Susan Taubert Friberg. Residence, Charleston, SC.

The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Eric G. Friberg are invited to attend the memorial service for the former in St. Philip's Episcopal Church Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at eleven o'clock.

Friends may call at the residence Tuesday between five and six-thirty o'clock. Eric was born September 2, 1942 in New Rochelle, New York, the son of the late Frank Frederick Friberg and Aurelia Pheasant Friberg.

He was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church, a graduate of Harvard University and received his Masters Degree from M.I.T. Eric was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam and received the Air Force Commendation Medal. In 1992, he was knighted by the Belgian government and made Officer of the Order of Leopold II. Eric was a retired director of McKinsey & Company and remained on their Advisory Council.

He was a senior advisor for K.K.R. between 2002-2005. He was Chairman of the Board of the High Museum in Atlanta, President of The Atlanta Opera, President and then Chairman of the Spoleto Festival USA, Vice President of the Board for Gibbes Museum of Art, and Chairman of the Board for William and Mary Mason School of Business.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Kristina F. Mangelsdorf and husband, Mark, of Pelham, NY, and Mary Elizabeth Friberg of Santa Monica, CA; a son, John Eric Friberg and wife, Maggie, of Hermosa Beach, CA; a brother, Karl A. Friberg and wife, Lyn, of Scarsdale, NY; a sister, Paula S. Friberg of Westminster, MA; and two grandchildren, Charlotte E. Mangelsdorf and Eric R. Mangelsdorf. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spoleto Festival USA, 14 George Street, Charleston, SC 29401, Gibbes Museum of Art, 135 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401 or William and Mary Mason School of Business, Blow Hall, Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
