William was the son of Joseph Michael Herrmann and Mary Ellen Rahilly. He married Marguerite Ellen Kirby, the daughter of Thomas F and Bridget Marren Kirby. He was the father of Janet Herrmann, Keith William Herrmann and Raymond William Herrmann

Services Held on Thursday Morning for Mr. Herrmann

Funeral Services were held Thursday morning at St. James Catholic church in Lee for William Herrmann of Shabbona, who died at his home Monday. Burial was in the church cemetery and visitation was held Thursday evening at the Thorsen funeral home.
Mr. Herrmann was born March 18, 1885 in Willow Creek township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Herrmann. He was a graduate of St. Bede school and a retired grain dealer. He married in 1915 to Margaret Kirby who preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Keith Herrmann of Portland, Ore., Dr. Raymond Herrmann of Baltimore, Md., one daughter, Mrs. Keith Kuhlmann of Hawaii; 17 grandchildren and three brothers, Irvin of Shabbona, Robert of Scarboro and Claude of Rochelle.

WILLIAM H. HERRMANN

SHABBONA -- William H. Herrmann, 83, died suddenly at his home in Shabbona on Sept. 1, 1968.
He was born March 19, 1885, in Willow Creek Township, one of six children born to Joseph M and Mary Herrmann. In 1915 he married Marguerite Kirby of Steward. He grew up in the Willow Creek area and was a 1906 graduate of St. Bedes, Peru.
They made their home in Scarboro where he operated the grain elevator from 1911 to 1923 when they moved to Shabbona where he operated the elevator until he retired in 1948.
He was preceded in death several years ago by his wife, also his oldest brother, Joseph A. of Rochelle and a sister, Louise.
Survivors include three children, Keith of Portland, Ore., Dr. Raymond Herrmann of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Keith (Janet) Kuhlman of Honolulu, Hawaii, also 17 grandchildren and three brothers, Claude, Rochelle, Robert, Scarboro, and Irvin W., Shabbona, and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday, Sept. 5, at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Lee, with Rev. Holmgren officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lee.
The Rosary will be recited in the Thorsen Funeral Home, Shabbona, at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Note: The Social Security Death Index and the first obituary both list William's birthday as March 18. If he died on Monday, as the first obit says, it was September 2, not the 1st. .
