Joe Linton Greer
SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Joe Linton Greer passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10th, at Osborn Funeral Home. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at First United Methodist Church Couch Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Carl Rhoads of First United Methodist Church and Rev. Conrad Edwards of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave.
Mr. Greer was a native of Homer, LA and resident of Shreveport. He graduated from Fair Park High School and attended Centenary College. He proudly served during WWII in the U.S. Army. Mr. Greer worked for the Postal Service for 36 years, the last 21 of which he served as Customer Service Representative. Following his retirement in 1984, he worked as the Corporate Liaison for a major nationwide check printing company for nine years. One of the things Mr. Greer was most proud of was his participation in a clinical trial at MD Anderson Cancer Center for five years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport for over 40 years.
Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Terry Greer; and his parents, Captain and Mrs. Joseph Palmer Greer. He is survived by his daughter, Laura Lynn Greer Cronin and her husband, Greg of Ocean Springs, MS; brother, J. Raymond Greer and his wife, Janis of Shreveport; step-son, Terry Greer of Shreveport; and daughter-in-law, Karen Greer McGee; grandchildren, Andrew, Claire, Will and Sam Cronin, and Sarah and Hannah Greer.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Greer, Clyde Patterson, Bill Buck, Jacob Fisher, Andrew Cronin and Sarah Greer. Honorary pallbearer will be James Henderson.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Dr. Seborn Woods, a longtime friend and primary physician, for his care and concern for many years; Dr. Ben Quinney, Dr. Bill Eddleman, Dr. Shreyaskumar Patel and others for their part in providing medical care.
