Mrs. McCurdy, formerly Allie McDowell, was born Aug. 21, 1875 at Viola, a daughter of George and Anna Calkins McDowell. She was reared and educated at Viola, New Windsor, and Alpha.
On Dec 17, 1902, she was married to Clyde McDowell [McCurdy] at Normal, Ill. The family home had been in Alpha for 14 years and in Henry County for 47 years.
Mrs. McCurdy was a member of the Alpha Baptist Church and was one of the church’s most active workers.
Surviving are the widower; two sons, Howard and Nyle of Alpha, a brother R.E. McDowell of Altona, Ill.; a sister, Miss Mae McDowell of Orion and two grandchildren. Two brothers—Charles and Donald—died recently.
Funeral services will probably be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the home in Alpha with the Rev R. B Flavoright, Baptist pastor, in charge. Plans were not complete this morning.
