Born in Reinbeck, Grundy, Iowa, USA to Wm Wesley Goble and his first wife Clarrissa A. Lamoreaux. He was only 2 when his mother died and the youngest of 4 boys. Merton was raised by his Uncle Henry Bradford Goble and his wife Lillie Mae Cramer in Oakley Kansas. He was a cattle drover in 1900 in Grinnel, Gove,Kansas. Mert moved to Oregon circa 1900-1903. Married Katie Matilda Dunlavy of Oregon abt. 1904. 1910 lived w/family in Oak Grove prct (Wapinitia)., Wasco, Oregon his occupation Harness Repairer. Wife Katie died 20 May 1914 Portland Oregon. In 1920 he lived with his children (except for Doris) in Salt Lake City, Utah his occupation Shoemaker. He moved to British Columbia 1921. Mert died in Kamloops hospital of TB 1922. Children: Leland, Opal Marie, Earl E., Cecil Franklin (AKA Frank Dunlavy) & Doris Bonita (adopted by Lester D. and Susie Crowfoot Kelly).
