Irene T. Aiken, age 91, died Sept. 20, 2000. She was born in Nephi, Utah, Apr. 26, 1909, to Charles Roscoe and Sadie Sophia Sperry Tolley. She married Archibald Quince Aiken on Mar. 14, 1934, in Nephi. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on April 29, 1936.
She was recognized with an Outstanding Citizen Award from Snow College for her service to the community. She loved to share her quilts, afghans, garden vegetables, genealogy, bottled fruit and her special pickles.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many organizations. She served in the Relief Society and was in the presidency for nearly 25 years. She was a visiting teacher for over 45 years. She enjoyed attending the temple with her husband until his death.
She is survived by her four daughters, Annette (Kenneth) Sears of Sandy, Linda (Osral) Allred of Spring City, Dorothy (Louis) Cook of Fountain Green, and Sandra (Boyd) Beck of Spring City; 20 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Alan Tolley; grandson, Robert Beck; and great-grandson, Jeremy Cox.
Funeral Services were held in the Spring City LDS Chapel on Monday, Sept. 25, 2000. Burial in the Spring City Cemetery.
