William B. Burkhart, an aged and respected resident of this city, died at his residence, No. 2023 Ninth Avenue, at a quarter before 11 o'clock yesterday morning after an illness extending over several months, the direct cause of his death being Bright's disease of the kidneys.
The deceased was born at Fort Littleton, Pa., March 11 1813, and was consequently aged 77 years, 1 month and 3 days at the time of his death. At an early age the deceased came to Blair County and for a number of years was a farmer in Logan Township.
At the breaking out of the rebellion he enlisted in Company F, 76th Regiment, Colonel Wayne commanding, and after serving two years received an honorable discharge.
About three years ago he came to this city where he resided continuously until his demise. For many years he was a consistent member of the German Baptist Church and while health permitted was ever faithful to his religious duties.
His aged wife and nine children survive and mourn the loss of a kind husband and indulgent father. The children are: Mrs. Joseph Inkenland and Mrs. William Hahn, of Baker's Mines; George W. and Thomas D. Burkhart, of Sugar Run; William D., employed in the brass foundry; Clinton D., Josiah L., Sarah and Inez Burkhart, the three last named living with the surviving parent.
The funeral will leave the late residence at 1 o'clock to morrow, to proceed to the Carson Valley cemetery, where the interment will be made.
