Darin A. Ogden, 23, Norfolk, Va., Gunners Mate 2C, was killed in the explosion aboard the USS Iowa. The explosion in turret 2, occurred during training maneuvers in the Atlantic Ocean off of Puerto Rico. He had resided in Virginia six years, since his enlistment in the U.S. Navy. He was born Nov. 12, 1964 in Shelbyville, Ind., the son of Robert D. and Jennifer R. Richey Ogden. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Shelbyville, Ind. In 1983 he graduated from Waldron High School, Waldron, Ind., where he was active in the band and on the wrestling team. He was also a member of the Key Club and the French Club. He is survived by his wife and two stepsons; his parents; his grandmother; two brothers; one sister; and three nieces and nephews.
