John Peter Cramer, 28, of Uniontown, PA, was one of the 47 men killed in the explosion of gun turret #2 on the USS Iowa, during training maneuvers in the Atlantic Ocean off of Puerto Rico.
He joined the Navy after high school and was an eight year Navy veteran. On his last visit home, he had bought a 1986 Ford Mustang, played Nintendo games, and ate home cooked meals. His father said he loved hunting and fishing and was taking a gunsmithing course in the Navy with the intentions of becoming a gunsmith.
