Milton, 21, was the son of Milton F. DeVaul, Sr., and Shirley Lukins DeVaul. He had a brother, Stephen, and two sisters, Dawn and Brenda. He graduated from Solvay High School. He was killed in the explosion of gun turret #2 on the USS Iowa, during training maneuvers in the Atlantic Ocean off of Puerto Rico.
