Brian Robert Jones, 19, was the son of Carol Nichelson and Bob Jones. He had two sisters, Jennifer and Colleen. He graduated from North Cobb High School, where he was a member of the Navy Junior ROTC program. He enlisted in the Navy in 1987. After his service in the Navy, he planned to attend the University of Georgia. He was killed in the explosion of gun turret #2 on the USS Iowa, during training maneuvers in the Atlantic Ocean off of Puerto Rico.
