Clovis "Edward" Graham, the son of Robert Daniel & Sarah Elizabeth (Besheers) Graham, was born in Greenville, TX, on Dec. 26, 1885. His first marriage was to Annie Edith Preston, daughter of Taylor & Minnie Leona (Stevens) Preston.
Ed and Annie's son, Robert, was born on June 15, 1924. Annie died from pneumonia on May 29, 1926. Ed's mother-in-law and two sisters, took care of little Robert while he worked in the oil fields for Gulf Oil Company.
He met Jessie Dodson one day when he stopped to see his son. They had never met and were instantly attracted to each other. Jessie Elizabeth Dodson, the daughter of George Bell & Cynthia (Vance) Dodson, were married in Durant, OK, on August 9, 1930. Ed was 32, and Jessie was 26. They had one child, Doris, who was born in 1932.
They were happily married almost 45 years before his death on July 14, 1975.
Clovis E. ‘Ed' Graham, 79, died Monday at Worley Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Ted Savage, pastor of central Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens cemetery. Graveside services will be conducted by Pampa Masonic 966. Mr. Graham, born in Greenville, moved to Pampa in 1928 and was married to Jessie E. Dodson in 1930 at Durant, Okla. He was an employee of Gulf Oil Company for 43 years, retiring in 1959. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Pampa Masonic Dodge 966 and of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the Central Baptist Church. Survivors include the widow; one son, Robert B. of Pampa; one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Doris) Robbins of Pampa; one sister, Mrs. Murtie Duff of Pampa; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren."
