Gordon Leid, 68, an ardent gardener in the Waitsburg area, died Thursday morning at a local hospital. He was a retired farmer.
Born April 1, 1900, Leid had been a life-time resident of Waitsburg. He was the sone of R.W. Leid, an area pioneer. Following his graduation from Waitsburg High School in 1920, Leid married Metha Harsh June 9, 1920 in Waitsburg. He had farmed in Waisburg all of his life.
Active in many community service projects, Leid was a member of the Waitsburg Presbyterian Church, Waitsburg Masonic Lodge 16, F.&A.M., Knights of Pythias 70 of Waitsburg and the Elks 287 in Walla Walla.
Besides his wife Metha at the home in Waitsburg, Leid is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Ed (Roberta) Kelber of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Larry (Barbara) Bumann of Andover, Ill.; his sons, Roy W. Leid of Waitsburg and Dr. Robert Leid of Kirkland, Wash.; a brother Robert Leid of Dayton and 11 grandchildren.
