On 2 May 1862 at McDonough, Georgia, Benjamin Adair enlisted in the 53rd Georgia Regiment. He was paid a fifty dollar bounty. He was received at Wayside Hospital Number Nine on 21 February 1863. Transferred to Chimborazo the next day, he died the day after that from pneumonia. He had $31.10 in his pocket. It was turned over to the Quartermaster.
