My Mom was so brave..she was ill for 8 weeks and never left the hospital bed. I don't know how she could go through all of the things she had to. I watched for 8 weeks while she went through horrible things..painful things. She never complained and when they told her she had a few days to live she told us what she wanted and never shed a tear. She said the hardest thing was that she wasn't going to know how we were and what we were doing. Her family and friends came all weekend to see her. Daddy and I spent the night with her and she went into a peaceful sleep and when I woke I knew she was gone. She was someone I called all the time and told her everything. She told me I had to let her go and I told her I would if I had to...I will never let her go from my heart. I don't know what I'll do without her. The only thing that eases the loss at all is she will never have to suffer again.
I got her a phone on my plan so it wouldn't cost anything to call her....she listened to my genealogy finds and I called her several times a day...she always listened....I don't know how many times I start to call her.
Mom had gentle hands that took care of me when I was sick...I hope my hands were that gentle when I took care of her.
Two important things my Mom taught me:
1. When you love someone never leave them mad or go to sleep mad..you never know what will happen before you see them again.
2.Don't do anything to anyone that you wouldn't want done to you.
Things she enjoyed: Family..Church...fishing...gardening...canning... cooking for family events.
She had raised the most beautiful gardens. She would grow things she could preserve. Everything she cooked was delicious...I loved the Banana Pudding and white cake with fluffy white icing for my birthdays..the pineapple cake from Granny's recipe...the berry cobblers..the kids all loved the chocolate pies..plum jam...everything will be missed!!

Services for Odessa Jean Wigley, 77, of Gatesville will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Belton with Arthur Washburn officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Valley Cemetery in Salado.
Mrs. Wigley died Tuesday, June 30, in Scott & White Hospital.
She was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Killeen to Koen WoodyJackson and Ola Mae Brooks Jackson . She married Earnest E. Wigley on March 20, 1948, in Lampasas. She worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Belton.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean Rounsaville .
Survivors include her husband; two sons, James Wigley of Gatesville and Ray Wigley of Temple; a daughter, Jan Beckham of California; two brothers, K.W. Jackson and Drew Jackson; two sisters, Edna Love and Gayla Shelley; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
