Bertha Louise Davies, 66, of Creve Coeur, formerly of Chandlerville, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born Feb. 2, 1948, in Hannibal, Mo., to Jesse Ernest and Berneice Maxine Johnson Nichelson. She married Edward Davies on April 17, 1966, in Chandlerville.
Bertha is survived by her husband, Edward of Creve Coeur; two daughters, Lisa (Robert) Nannen of North Pekin and Angela Davies of Centennial, Colo.; son, Nicholas (Tara) Davies of Chillicothe; three grandchildren, Kirk and Koert Nannen and Jordyn Davies; one sister, Jessie (Edean) Leinberger of Chandlerville; one uncle, Howard Johnson of Chandlerville; and one aunt, Joyce Johnson of Beardstown.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Harry Nichelson; one half-brother, James Nichelson; and her parents.
Bertha worked for Capitol Records in Jacksonville and then for J.C. Penney in Peoria for many years, retiring in 1986.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Chandlerville.
