Terrence "Terry" P. Burns
June 4, 1939 - February 22, 2009

Terrence P. Burns "Terry", age 69, of Valparaiso, formerly of Gary, passed away peacefully at the VNA Porter County Hospice following a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, February 22, 2009, with his family by his side.

Terry, President and Co-Owner of Burns Funeral Homes, was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. and Genevieve P. Burns, his brother Edwin J. Burns and his sister Marilyn T. (Burns) Kerger.

Terry was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Valparaiso, a former member of Holy Angels Cathedral, a graduate of Holy Angels Grade School and Horace Mann High School, Class of 1957 and a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He attended Indiana University. He was a longtime member of the Gary Sportsman's Club, the Innsbrook Country Club, the Gary Old Timers, the Isaac Walton, an Executive Board Member of the Friendly Sons of Erin, and the AHEPA. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Terry is survived by his wife of 43 years, MaryBeth (Owens) Burns of Valparaiso; his daughters Jeannine (Charles) Clark of Las Vegas, NV, and their children Mary K. Clark of Chicago and Patrick C. Clark of Las Vegas; Margaret Leslie (Knight) Martorell and their son, Colin Knight Martorell of Highlands, NC; son Patrick A. (Heather) Burns and their sons, Ryan Patrick Burns and Hayden Matthew Burns of Valparaiso; Sister Barbara Ann "Babs" (Jack) Chevigny of Munster; brother James F. (Sally) Burns of Hobart. and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 P.M. at the Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. Funeral Services Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 509 E. Division Road, Valparaiso, for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David H. Gosnell officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Portage, IN.
