Amanda June Harris, 23, died Sunday, October 30, 2005, at Ennis Regional Medical Center. Amanda was born Dec. 25, 1981 in Corsicana, Texas. She graduated from Ennis High School in the year 2000. She went on to attend Stephen F. Austin State University. She recently received her Registered Dental Assistant Certificate from the State Board of Dental Examiners. Amanda loved animals, reading novels and being with friends and family. She is survived by her parents, Stephen "Steve" Kyle Harris and June Evans Harris of Palmer; sister, Shannon June Harris Doss, her husband, John Monroe Doss and their daughter, Katherine "Kate" Monroe Doss of Cameron, North Carolina; grandparents, Fred Dees Richardson and Dorothy Billings Harris Richardson of Zavalla, Texas; grandmother, Ruth Hill Evans of Linden, Texas; uncles, Jerry Don Harris of McKinney, TX, Mark Edward Richardson of Garland, TX and Rex Randall Evans of Linden, TX; aunts, Sherra Evans Strutton and Judy Evans Archer both of Houston, TX; Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday in the J.E. Keever Mortuary. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, at the J.E. Keever Chapel in Ennis. The Harris' wish to have a small, private funeral service with only relatives and very close high school and college friends of Amanda's. Burial will be in Myrtle Cemetery. The Harris' will receive friends of the family at the Quality Inn Conference Room and Lounge Friday after the funeral from 5:00-6:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Amanda Harris Rape Prevention Foundation at Bank of America in Ennis. The foundation is being established to help provide education to high school and college students in Ellis County concerning rape prevention, the devastating affects of rape and the need for counseling for victims of rape.
