Kenneth Wade Benefield, 44, of Red Bluff, Passed away suddenly while recuperating from an automobile accident in February, 2006.

Ken was born in Redding and moved to Red Bluff when he was 18 months old. He attended Red Bluff schools and graduated from Red Bluff Union High School in 1980.

When he was 12, he was a member of the 1974 All-Stars, who made their way to Williamsport, Pennsylvania and the Little League World Series. Throughout his years in high school, he was an outstanding wrestler. His dreams of making it to the state championship his senior year fell short because of a shoulder injury. For many years, Ken played slowpitch softball in the city leagues. He loved auto racing, hunting, and fishing. Since 1989, he made his living as a self-employed log truck driver. He never knew a stranger and was extremely likable.

Family was important to Ken. He was especially proud of his daughters, Brittany and Megan, and looked forward to watching them grow into responsibile, successful adults.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Brittany and Megan Benefield; parents, Bob and Barbara Benefield of Red Bluff; sisters, Linda White of Cottonwood and Bonny Stephens of Redding; niece, Jessica Bloxham of Red Bluff; nephews, Josh White of Cottonwood, Nate Stephens and Tanner Stephens both of Redding; grandmother, Evelyn Benefield of Cottonwood; aunts and uncles, Don and Dianne Benefield of Red Bluff, Mark Benefield of Cottonwood, Louis Miller of Shasta Lake City; and cousins, Marvin, Trace, and Sonny Benefield, Bert Miller, Sulie Stacy, Samantha Benefield, and Becky Siino.

Graveside services were at Oak Hill Cemetery with Mancil Tiss officiating. A private gathering was held following the service.
