Neal was born Wednesday, January 5, 1921 in Monroe, Utah to Joseph Lawrence Asay and Nellie Barney.
Neal passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at his home after a long battle with emphysema. He resided at 1641 Ransom Road in Riverside, California at the time of his death.
Neal was a Riverside resident for thirty-seven years, having moved there from San Diego. He was the hospital administrator at Riverside County Hospital and retired in 1985. He served in the Air Force during WWII.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, belonging to the Canyon Crest Ward. He married Kathleen Carpenter on December 23, 1944 in the St. George LDS Temple.
Neal was survived by his wife, Kathleen C. Asay; two sons, Mark D. Asay of Riverside and Craig D. Asay on Yucaipa; brother, Joe Asay; three sisters, Ilene Julander, Virginia Ogden, and Dona Williams; three grandchildren.
A viewing was held on Monday, April 11, 2005 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary located at 7944 Magnolia Avenue in Riverside. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. in the University Heights Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 181 East Blaine Street in Riverside.
Neal was laid to rest after the conclusion of the funeral services at 11:30 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery with full military honors accorded.
