Marvin L. Brown was born on December 12, 1935 in Melrose, New Mexico to Jess and Armel Pauline (Vaughan) Brown. He was nicknamed “Possum” by his dad when he was a little boy. The name stayed with him all his life. He attended school in Melrose, New Mexico. He began working at a young age with his stepfather in road construction, then started hauling milk. At that time, they picked up milk in five gallon containers. He then worked for North Texas Milk Producers.

Possum married Patricia Free in 1960. To this union, one daughter, Tallie Delene, was born. Patricia passed away and on March 25, 1967, he married Patty Cook in Pampa, Texas. He continued his work with hauling milk from the dairies for Associated Milk Producers. Later, he drove the transports, hauling the milk to the plants for many years. The last several years, he worked for his nephew, Les Brown, at Equipment Service and Welding, with his son, Monte Brown, and nephew, Jessie Brown.

Possum was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed family reunions and loved to fish and watch baseball on the television, especially the Atlanta Braves. For the last several years, Marvin came to know the Lord in a special way and loved being with the church family. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Possum was preceded in death by his father, Jess Brown, mother and stepfather, Pauline and Bill Mayhon, three brothers, Leslie Otis Brown, Raymond Brown, and his twin brother, Melvin Don Brown, and a sister, Viola Pickle.
