Lewis Edward Atkinson of the Auxvasse neighborhood and Miss Pearl A. Young of South of Fulton, were married in the Probate Judges office, Judge Tincher officiating.
These are well known and popular young people of the county and their marriage at the time was a surprise to their friends and relatives. Mr. Atkinson calling up his parents after the wedding and notifying them and the bride had told her mother just before starting for Fulton.
It is said that the arrangements were made Sunday for the wedding at this time. D.G. Atkinson, a brother of the groom, was in the city but did not learn of it until sometime after the wedding had taken place.
The Groom is living with his parents on their farm and took his bride there Monday evening. He owns a farm of 160 acres and will build on it in time to move to it in the Spring.
Lewis Edward Atkinson, 68, of Rural Auxvasse, died at 5:55pm on Auguat 23, 1953 at Callaway Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for fifty-three days.
Dr. Henry Durst, of Fulton, pronounced death caused by Carcinoma of the Left Kidney with Metastasis to the Lung and Right Ilium, Pubic Bone contributed to by Generalized Arteriosclerosis. The informant was Albert Atkinson of Auxvasse.
Mr. Lewis was born January 24, 1885, in Callaway County, the son of Thomas and Mary Eve (Huff) Atkinson. He was a widower. Mr. Lewis was a farmer.
Arrangements were under the care of Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial was in the Carrington Baptist Church Cemetery.
