Glendon “Glen” Deering, 85, of Sachse passed away Saturday evening at his home. Memorial services are at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Richland Baptist Church, 1601 East Buckingham, in Richardson under the care of Peters Funeral Home.
A private committal service will be held in Forest Park Cemetery.
Mr. Deering was born July 14, 1919, in Elida, N.M., to Levi Jackson and Julia Nesmith Deering. He married Velma Florence Deering on Aug. 4, 1940.
Glen was a member of Richland Baptist Church in Richardson and a former member of the Lamar Baptist Church in Greenville, where he was an ordained deacon. He was a retired auto mechanic.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Velma Deering of Sachse; two daughters, Glenda Holdridge and her husband, Dan, of Sachse and Cindy Burton and her husband, David, of Rockwall; son, Wayne Deering and his wife, Wanda, of Garland; one brother, Harold Deering of Mabank; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
