John Adam Atchison, 67, of White Hall, died March 14, 2000, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 6, 1932, at Pine Bluff, a son of the late Charles L. Atchison and Maude Foreman Atchison.

He was reared and educated at Pine Bluff and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1950. He attended Ouachita Baptist University at Arkadelphia before joining the Navy in which he served during the Korean Conflict. After returning to Arkansas, he worked for Arkansas Power and Light, where he was employed for over 40 years before retiring in 1991. He was manager of the West Little Rock office of AP&L.

He was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite and an active member of Kiwanis, where he served as a past president of the West Little Rock Kiwanis Club and Inner City Kiwanis Club of Pine Bluff.

He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Pine Bluff and served many years as lay music director for different churches throughout the area, including several years with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Verna Taylor Atchison, who died in 1991; a brother, Wendell Atchison; two sisters, Margaret "Honey" Atchison and Bonnie Lynn Atchison Callender.

Survivors include his wife whom he married in November of 1992; a daughter, two stepsons, two brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren.
