LOCKLIN S. BELL

Locklin S. Bell, 600 Crestview Drive, died Aug. 9 in the Cabarrus Hospital in Concord, N.C.

He was a native of Florence, Ala., and had resided in Johnson City since 1974.

Mr. Bell was a 1937 graduate of VPI, where he was class valedictorian.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific theater.

Mr. Bell had attained the rank of lieutenant colonel after 20 years of service and was a bronze star recipient.

He was a retired employee of the General Electric Corp. in Milwaukee, where he had worked for 37 years and earned several patents for his work in the x-ray division.

Mr. Bell was a member of the Metropolitan Kiwanis Club, where he was elected Kiwanian of the Year for 1978-79 and was also active in the Junior Achievement program in this area.

He was a Presbyterian.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily B. Bell, in 1977, and by his father, G.F. Bell, and one son.

Survivors include one son, John Bell, Johnson City; three daughters, Mrs. Barbara Lawrence, Dyersburg, Mrs. Lynn Brandt, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Julia Giencke, Waterford, Wis.; his mother, Mrs. Carrie S. Bell, Charlotte; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Wood, Ft. Thomas, Ky., and Mrs. Dorothy Flowe, Concord; either grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Morris-Baker is in charge.
