Lawrence Neal Barnwell was born in Tampa. Florida more than 108 years ago on February 23nd, 1915 to his father, Goode Tait Barnwell and mother, Stella Maude McNeill. He was the second of 9 children welcomed into the World by his parents. Barnwell Patriarch, Goode Tait supported his family as both a blacksmith and farner at different points of his life.
With the United Stated embroiled in.the heart of the Second World War, tonight's subject enlisted with the United States Army on August 23rd, 1943. An Infantryman, Lawrence Neal who achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant was sent to the European theater with the 84th Infantry Division in July of 1944. Regrettably he would be KIA @ Belgium while battling the Nazis on Saturday, January 13th, 1945. We will be recalling young Mr. Barnwells life journey in its entirety on my public social media, "The Good Cemeterian" in the not too distant future...
