Louis Anfenger was a Politician, Philanthropist,and Businessman. He migrated to the United States when he was about 14 years old in 1856 with his sister from Bavaria now Germany. He settled in New York and was taught the trade of watchmaker and jeweler by his older brother.

He moved to Denver Colorado in 1870 with his wife Louise Schlesinger. He was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1895 and 1900. He was not just your average businessman and was well known in the Denver comunity as a productive and generous man as he helped co-found National Jewish Hospital, Temple Emanuel, B'nai B'rith, and operated a successful real estate and insurance firm. After 30 years in Denver, Louis died on December 7th 1900, leaving Louise a widow.

He is included in several books about the early history of Denver, Colorado.

He was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Denver Colorado.
