Cathy J. (Marsh) Caperton, age 52 of Little River, SC, died January 6, 2006 at her home in Little River, SC after a brief illness with her husband by her side. She currently resides in heaven in a beautiful mansion. She won't have to worry about the décor; it was made just for her! Cathy is fondly remembered by her family and friends as a person who loved to shop, go to the beach, lay in the sun, and travel. She was lovingly nicknamed "Go-Go" by her daddy and Caty by her children. Cathy is also remembered for her outgoing personality and positive attitude. She was a devoted mother to her three children and set an example for them to be persistent with everything they set out to achieve. Cathy had a desire to help other people and planned to join the Nurturing Committee at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church when she recovered from her illness. Cathy was born in Sullivan County and lived in the Boones Creek area of Washington County during her childhood and teenage years. She lived in Blountville for most of her adult life before moving to Little River. She is a daughter of Eula "Lucy" V. Caldwell Ward of Elizabethton and the late Howard H. Pete Ward. She was a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach, a former member of First Baptist Church in Blountville, and formerly attended Boone Trail Baptist Church in Johnson City. Cathy was a member of the last graduating class of Boones Creek High School in 1971. She was a Varsity cheerleader, Football Homecoming Queen her senior year, and was involved in various clubs and organizations throughout High School. She graduated with highest honors from Tri-Cities State Technical Community College with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science and Magna cum laude from Milligan College with a B. S. Degree in Business Administration. She worked for over 20 years with TI/Siemens Energy and Automation most recently as a Senior Field Service Engineer. During her children's school years, she was an active member of the Blountville Middle School and Central High School Booster's club. She was a cheerleading sponsor at Blountville Middle School for grades three through six. As well as her mother, Cathy is survived by her husband, Charles Brian Caperton, of the home; one son, Joshua Ryan Marsh of Knoxville; twin daughters, Brittany Nicole Marsh of Knoxville and Brooke Nicole Marsh of Johnson City; three sisters, Trena Little and husband David, Robbyn Neal-Maylott and husband Michael, all of Jonesborough, and Donna Whetsell of Gray; three nieces, Misty Snyder, Annie Neal Baker, and Halle Whetsell; four nephews, Jody Snyder, Brad Snyder, Justin Wells, and Matthew Wells; several uncles, aunts, and cousins; and four special friends, Sandy Christian Rhodes, Susan Dotson Onks, Debbie Steffey, and Sandy Browning. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard H. "Pete" Ward, paternal grandparents Clarence H. and Berlie M. Ward, and maternal grandparents Leslie B. and Thomas C. Caldwell, and a brother-in-law Larry Jay Neal. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the 7th floor nursing staff at MUSC, Dr. Fenning and staff, especially Christa Rizzi, the doctors and staff at Georgetown Radiology Group, especially Dr. Aguero and Pam Keller, and the many friends and neighbors who visited, brought a meal, or helped care for Cathy during her illness. We would also like to thank our friends here at home for the prayers and support during this time. The Celebration of Life Service will be will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at Boone Trail Baptist Church with Pastor Ira G. Cunningham officiating. Graveside services and internment will follow immediately at Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Frank Rhodes, Paul Onks, Eric Redmond, Fred Raines, Dean Mixon, and John Karczmarczyk. She will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the service hour. Her family will receive friends on Monday, January 9, 2006, from 5 - 8:00 PM at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City, and other times at her children's home at 204 E.
