She was united in marriage Aug. 7, 1890 to Robert W. Barnes of Goff, Kans., who passed away April 26, 1941. To this union were born seven daughters and two sons. Four daughters preceded her in death, Georgia and Mabel, who died in infancy, (Lillie) Mrs. Clarence Dean and (Elsie) Mrs. Henry Paschke.

Mrs. Barnes with her husband started their married life on a farm in the Comet and Granada vicinities, until they moved to Sabetha in 1914, where they spent the remainder of their lives. Mrs. Barnes was better known as Grandma Barnes to her friends and neighbors. She was not only a wonderful mother, but was a real asset to the community; she never tired of helping others. She never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her.
She made her home the past several years with her daughter, Mrs. Florence McCourt, in Lawrence, Kans.
Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Popkess Chapel with the Rev. B. F. Ireland officiating. Mrs. W. R. Popkess sang favorite hymns with Mrs. C. G. Robinson, organist accompanist. Casket bearers were her grandsons Leroy Paschke, Henry Paschke, Robert Paschke, Eddie Roberts, Merle Bares and Ernest Grimm. Burial was in the Sabetha Cemetery.
