Clisby Sylveny Ballard married Catherine Hake on 11 September 1867, in Trumbull County, Ohio. He was the son of David Ballard and Elizabeth Newborn Ballard. David Ballard was born in 1797 and died in 1863. Elizabeth Newborn Ballard was born in 1795, and died in 1875.
Clisby joined the Union Army on 12 August 1862, at the age of 23. He was at Chickamauga, Georgia and Mission Ridge under General Rosecrans and General Sherman on the March to the Sea. He was at the surrender of Johnson and campaigns in the Carolinas. He participated in the Grand Review at Washington D.C. Clisby was a member of Company B, 105th OVI.
Clisby and Catherine's daughter was Florence Anna Ballard.
