A homemaker, she farmed with her husband, Harry Harvey, for many years. The two owned the Towne Shoppe clothing store in West Mansfield, and Mrs. Harvey also worked for the Montgomery Ward store and Jamison's Drug Store, both in Bellefontaine. Dolly also worked at The Plaza Inn in Mount Victory and served as a caregiver to several in the West Mansfield area. She was a 1933 graduate of West Mansfield High School and was active in the West Mansfield United Methodist Church and various community organizations and clubs. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, sewing, and camping, and especially treasured time spent with her family.
She was born July 14, 1916, in West Mansfield to the late George and Marie Headington Benedict. She married Harry Harvey on June 2, 1935, at the West Mansfield United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1980. She was also preceded in death by an infant grandson, Chris Harvey, her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Morris, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Jan Harvey, and a brother-in-law, Richard Chambers.
Survivors include her three sons, Roger (Linda) Harvey, Marysville; Joseph (Marcia) Harvey, Columbus; and James (Vicki) Harvey, Urbana; her four grandchildren who lovingly called her "Nana", Heather (Jeff) Bowman, Lora (Tamara) Harvey, Dustin (Kim) Harvey, and Chad (Katie) Harvey; six great-grandchildren, Gage & Mackenzie Bowman, and Kyle, Paige, Brooke, & Sarah Harvey; a sister-in-law, Bea Chambers, a resident of Green Hills and formerly of Rushsylvania; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and her church family.
