EAST PALESTINE - Mrs. Ruth M. Sansenbaugher, 91, of 567 East Street, passed away 9:37 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009 at Salem Community Hospital where she had been a patient for the past three days.
Ruth was born April 23, 1918 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Irvine and Mary Huffman Taylor. She had resided in East Palestine since 1945. She had been employed as secretary with the former Cohen and Allison Law Office and later as secretary to the superintendent of the East Palestine Board of Education for twenty years, retiring in January 1982.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and had been active with the church board. She also held memberships in the Order of Eastern Star Lodge No. 381, where she was a Past Worthy Matron, Gamma Omicron Sorority, the American Legion Woman's Auxiliary, and Friends of the Library, all of East Palestine.
Her husband, Delmar F. "Dutch" Sansenbaugher, whom she married May 12, 1942, preceded her in death on July 31, 1991. Two brothers, Harry Taylor and Donald Taylor, as well as a sister, Alice Krieger, also preceded her in death.
Ruth is survived by a son, Kim (Cheryl) Sansenbaugher, East Palestine; and a sister, Dolores Mansell, East Palestine. She also leaves three grandchildren, Troy (Bonnie), Brett, and Eric Sansenbaugher; and two great grandchildren, Emily and Carley.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the First United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Donald Aull, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday. An Eastern Star service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
