Second child of Ruby Jane Keyes and Lesley L. Humble. In July 1941 he joined the US Navy and served his country in the Submarine Service during both Warld War II and the Korean Conflict. His submarine training was at New London, CT., and Key West, FL where he received radio training on the R-2 a boat commissioned in 1919. He served on the USS Sunfish (SS-281) "The Galloping Ghost of the China Coast", The USS Finback (SS-230), USS Haddock (SS-231) and the USS FlyingFish (SS-229). On Christmas Day 1942 he saw Mt. Fugi through a periscope. In April 1945 he received Sonar training in San Diego, CA. He graduated from Kansas State University on the GI Bill. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico he worked for Sandia National Lab. Married for 60 years to LaVerna Jean Larson they had two children Michael and Debra.
