TOM M. LEON, 60, of Rogers died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at home following a brief illness.
Born in East Liverpool on Nov. 17, 1947, a son of the late Anthony and Virginia Leon, he lived most of his life in this area.
Along with his wife, he owned and operated Leon's Oasis Café for 20 years.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Purple Heart, became a member of the Disabled American Veterans and also was a lifetime member of VFW Post 66.
A member of East Liverpool High School Class of 1965, he attended St. John's Lutheran Church, and he enjoyed golfing.
He is survived at home by his wife, Sue, whom he married June 10, 1983.
Also surviving is a daughter, Liz Leon Love of East Liverpool; a son, Michael Leon, at home; and a step-daughter, Charlene Wilson of Chicago, Ill.
There are seven grandchildren: Candra Love, Ethan Love, Aiden Love, Tessa Love, Kalei Rambo, Taylor Marker and Brennen Marker. There is one great-grandson, Zachary Rambo.
Survivors include a sister, Joan Bise of Sun City, Ariz., and a brother, John Leon of East Liverpool.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Joey Hoppel.
The Rev. Paul Burgeson of St. John's Lutheran Church is to conduct services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Burial is to be at Columbiana County Memorial Park followed by a gathering of friends and family at the church.
The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group and the Honor Guard of the West Virginia National Guard will provide full military honors.
