Journal Gazette 4/3/1999

Clyde lived with his dad down the street from me where I grew up and was next door neighbors with my grandparents. He was a quiet man and kept a lot to himself but he was a very sweet man. He was kind of "slow" due to an accident he had when he was a small boy, a corn crib fell on top of him and he was hurt pretty bad. One story was the accident happened during a tornado but I can't substantiate this. My grandfather was good friends with Clyde's dad, George, so when he became ill he asked my grandfather to look after Clyde when he passed on. Clyde's mother had passed on years earlier. Before George died he gave my grandfather his and his wife Pearl's wedding rings which my uncle now has. My grandfather would continue to check on Clyde and help him out whenever he could and would bring us grandkids over to visit Clyde from time to time. My grandfather passed away and not too long after that, Clyde's cousins put him into a group home.

I will always remember Clyde as the quiet soul with a tobacco pipe.
