CUMBERLAND - Edward Richard Cosgrove, 72, of 12009 Kite Ave., Potomac Park, Cumberland, died Monday, June 30, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.

Born April 3, 1925, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Catherine (Nee) Cosgrove. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Cosgrove.

Mr. Cosgrove was the retired president of Cosgrove Cycle Company, Cumberland. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion. Mr. Cosgrove was a veteran of the US Army, World War II.

Surviving are his wife Nancy (Deffinbaugh) Cosgrove, Cumberland; one daughter, Mary Catherine Glessner and husband Kenneth, Cresaptown; one son, Patrick Denton Cosgrove and wife Joan, LaVale; one granddaughter, Christina M. Cosgrove, LaVale; and two sisters, Margaret Hartman and husband William, and Patricia Hunter and husband William, both of Bel Air.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Father Robert McCreary OFM, Cap officiating.

Wake services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m.

Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Full military rites will be held at the graveside by local veterans organizations.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Brant, Ralph Buser, Bob Lough, Jerry Grabenstine, Ed Mattingly, Jr., and Kevin Mallow.
